Finally the Regional Coaches of the Year document now contains the Regional Coaches of the Year from the Upper Peninsula!
Congrats to all of our Regional Coaches of the year for 2018. A full list can be found below. These are selected by being the official MHSAA coach and finishing the highest at Regionals among the Top 5 if the Coach is a MITCA member.
Coach Bruce L. Waha, 91 of Boyne City, passed away at home on Wednesday,
June 6, 2018. Bruce Waha was a legend in high school and collegiate track and
field and cross county coaching. He was a founding father of MITCA, served as
President in 1961 and was the recipient of the Kermit Ambrose Award in 1978. He
coached at Detroit Redford, Howell, and Michigan State University. Bruce used
heart rates in his training in the 1950’s, which put him ahead of his time in regards
to training techniques. His Detroit Redford cross country teams won state titles in
1961 and 1962 and placed second in 1964.

This Saturday the State of Michigan will play host to the 2018 Mid West Meet of Champions on the campus of Michigan State University. The meet begins at Ralph Young Field at 11am on Saturday June 9th, 2018. Admission tickets are $5.
