MIDWEST MEET OF CHAMPIONS – MITCA proudly supports “Team Michigan” in the Midwest Meet of Champions. The MWMC pits the Top 3 Seniors in each event, from Michigan against the Top 3 seniors from Ohio and Indiana in a unique Team-Based, All-Star competition.  This year’s competition will take place in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 9th.

If you have an elite athlete that might be eligible for this prestigious meet, then it is essential that you make contact with the appropriate event coach in the next few days.  Final roster selections will be made the morning after the State Finals, and each of the event coaches must have contact information for interested athletes BEFORE the State Finals.  A list of event coaches can be found here: http://www.midwestmeetteammich.com/3.html

COACH OF THE YEAR –  If you were an active MITCA MEMBER BY MAY 1,2012, and if your team finishes in the Top 10 at the State Finals, you are a potential finalist for MITCA’s Coach of the Year Award.

COY Finalists will be the FOUR, highest finishing MEMBER COACHES at the MHSAA State Finals, in each division, and for each gender.  If you are a likely finalist, then we encourage you to submit your supplemental information here:  http://www.mitca.org/?page_id=218

This info will be used on the ballot for COY voting in February.  If you are a finalist and no information is submitted, your ballot entry will simply include your state final place and a note: “No Info Submitted.”  Please submit your info AFTER the state finals.

ACADEMIC ALL STATE AWARDS  -  If you have athletes potentially eligible for Academic All State Awards ( UNWEIGHTED GPA of 3.5 or higher  +  Top 8 Finish at the MHSAA State Finals ), then we encourage you to gather the appropriate GPA & contact information now so it is ready to submit after the State Finals.  Submissions are due by Monday after the State Finals (June 4).

If your school uses weighted grades (ie. 5.0 for an “A” in AP classes), you need to convert all of those grades back to a standard 4.0 scale.  Remember, this is only for 10th, 11th, 12th grade athletes…no freshman.
