SB-CEU

The ongoing process of getting attending coaches various for clinic attendance is going as strong as ever!  At the recent cross country clinic, eighty-five coaches earned at least 0.5 Michigan Department of Education certified SB-CEU that can be used when pursuing teacher recertification!   Post clinic, SB-CEU certificates processed and mailed to the address we have on file. A cumulative transcript can also be obtained by contacting the SB-CEU Coordinator

CERTIFICATION

Attending MITCA clinics may fulfill the requirements necessary for the MITCA Coaches Certification Program. By obtaining Certification, you are declaring that you attended clinics with a purpose!  MITCA is currently in the process of establishing an electronic record of all sessions attended by participating coaches. Additionally, there have been ongoing discussions of managing 'transfer credits' of sorts from outside sources (MHSAA Cap, USATF L1, Red Cross Certification, etc). but those details are in committee at this time.

As of this writing, the relationship between the US Track & Field Association (USATF) and MITCA will continue this spring with the 2009 Track & Field Clinic. As was the case last year, interested coaches could receive Developmental School certification. The USATF D-School is the entry level of certification provided by our sport's national governing board. For additional information on this, contact for further information (NOTE: also, consult USATF's  website regarding their complete certification program).

COLLEGE CREDIT FOR CLINICS

Attention to any coaches that were interested in obtaining college credit for their efforts at last year's track clinic. As we have been progressing to places that no association has ventured before, there have been some 'speed bumps' along the way but we are finally able to offer college credit as initially advertised!  If you were one of these coaches please contact SB-CEU Coordinator as soon as you can to obtain more details.  ADDITIONALLY, we will be offering this same opportunity to ANY interested coach for the UPCOMING track clinic. The requirements are varied but in short, you have to attend clinic sessions (which you do anyway) and then answer several questions which will allow you create a coaching portfolio (exact requirements are still in committee).

The cost is Jackson Community College's (JCC, our host school) per-credit fee.  It is believed that this is a painless way to obtain legitimate college credits (as opposed to SB-CEU) which can be used in a wider range of applications than those same SB-CEU. Note, this is NOT a fundraiser for MITCA but rather a service relationship we have established with JCC. We are also investigating this same service for our annual cross country clinics.

Any coach interested in this great opportunity should contact the SB-CEU Coordinator as soon as possible.
